OpenAI Unveils Major Upgrades Apps SDK, AgentKit & GPT-5-Codex

OpenAI has announced a powerful set of updates that will reshape how AI is used.

First, it released the Apps SDK, a new framework that lets developers build full applications inside ChatGPT itself, and early adopters include companies like Canva, Spotify, Expedia, Coursera, Figma, and Zillow.

Then came AgentKit a full toolkit for creating and operating AI agents, featuring tools like Agent Builder, ChatKit interface, and Connectors that let agents link directly to apps, websites or databases. Finally, the new GPT-5-Codex was officially launched: this version integrates directly with Slack, supports a Codex SDK for embedding in custom workflows, and includes advanced controls and analytics for enterprises.

OpenAI engineers say Codex helped them merge 70% more pull requests per week.
